Usage and Maintenance of Building Formwork

Appropriate maintenance and correct use of building formworks can not only extend the life span but also reduce a lot of unnecessary troubles for the construction project. So how can we extend the service life of building formworks?

Ⅰ. The formwork must be covered during transportation.

When transporting the building formwork, it should be noted that a transport tool with a better shielding effect should be selected. Or it can be covered with plastic cloth or thin felt to avoid the sun and rain during transportation and prevent the building formwork from being severely deformed in a short time due to the natural environment.

Ⅱ. Place the building formwork neatly after unloaded to prevent sun and rain.

After unloading the truck, the formwork should be neatly stacked on the flat ground. It should be noted that the board surface should not be in direct contact with the ground, and wood should be used to separate it layer by layer to keep the formwork ventilated. At the same time, pay attention to a shelter to prevent sun and rain. In addition, to prevent the aging of the film on the surface of the building formwork, it is necessary to avoid exposure to sunlight. If the storage environment is humid, remove the outer packaging and packing belt of the formwork to avoid deformation. During the second handling, repack and bundle to avoid losses and accidents caused by slipping.

Ⅲ. Matters needing attention in building formwork cutting, sawing, nailing, and punching.

When using a building formwork for the first time, an alloy saw blade with more than 100 teeth and a sawing machine with track should be used when the formwork is cut. If you need building formworks of different shapes and sizes, use a portable electric saw for cutting. In addition, when nailing or drilling holes in the formwork, a wooden square must be placed under the formwork to prevent splitting on the back of the formwork due to suspension. The edges of all factory formworks are sealed with edge-sealing paint to reduce water penetration. After cutting and perforating on-site, all cutting edges and the edges of holes should be coated with suitable waterproof paint to prevent the formwork from deforming and cracking due to water absorption.

Ⅳ. The life of the building formwork is related to the quality of the formwork itself and the quality of the operators.

80% of the damage to the building formwork occurred during the demolding process. Therefore, you should confirm the time for demolding. It is strictly forbidden to dismantle it brutally. Try to catch the demolished formwork by hand to avoid a single corner landing.
