Upper Tamor Hydropower Project (UTHPP) – Nepal

Dam Formwork Solution for a Major Hydropower Project in Nepal

The Upper Tamor Hydropower Project (UTHPP) is a major hydroelectric power station currently under construction in Taplejung District, Koshi Province, Nepal. Located in the mountainous eastern part of Nepal, the project is being developed to utilize the hydropower potential of the Tamor River and support the country’s growing demand for reliable and sustainable electricity.

The project involves extensive concrete construction and demanding dam works in a challenging mountainous environment, requiring efficient and adaptable hydropower formwork and dam formwork solutions.

Project Overview

Optimized Formwork Reuse for Foundation and Dam Construction

One of the key advantages of TECON’s engineering solution is the optimized reuse of formwork materials. Based on the project requirements, our engineers designed the system so that materials used for the dam body can also be reused as formwork for foundation casting. This approach maximizes material utilization, reduces the need for additional formwork materials, and helps lower overall formwork costs throughout the project.

By considering formwork reuse during the engineering and planning stage, TECON provides a more cost-effective solution for complex hydropower and dam construction projects, particularly where material transportation and challenging site conditions can significantly affect construction efficiency and costs.

On-Site Technical Support and Formwork Assembly Guidance

TECON also provided on-site technical support for the Upper Tamor Hydropower Project. Our site supervisor visited the project site to provide hands-on guidance to the local construction team, demonstrating the complete Base 20 Wall Formwork assembly process and explaining the correct installation procedures.

During the on-site training, TECON’s supervisor highlighted the key requirements, working procedures, and safety considerations that need to be strictly followed during subsequent construction stages. This practical support helped ensure smooth formwork installation and provided the project team with the knowledge required for efficient and reliable formwork operations as construction progresses.

Through a combination of engineering design, reusable Base 20 Wall Formwork, Dam Formwork, and on-site technical support, TECON continues to provide practical and cost-effective formwork solutions for hydropower, dam, infrastructure, and other complex concrete construction projects.
